DUO LARDY-LEJEUNE

Soprano & piano

Since 2020 Sonia forms a liedduo with pianist Julien Lejeune, with whom she explores the German, French and Eastern repertoire.

After being graduated from ARTS² (Mons), Sonia & Julien first played together in a project with stringquartett around French and Belgian music, working around composers like Joseph Jongen, Guillaume Lekeu and Ernest Chausson.

It's been three years that they work together as a duo, and have since then participated in several masterclasses and concerts in Spain and Belgium. They also have been admitted to the Udo Reinemann Masterclasses Lied Duo 2022-2023, under the direction of the mezzo-soprano Christianne Stotijn.

In their universe full of sensitivity and gentleness, Sonia & Julien wish to create their own idea of a poem.
Around their favourite themes of love, dream and death, they want to offer to their audience a little moment of escape within their world.

PROGRAM & REPERTOIRE

Crépuscules

Through the themes of dreams, love and death, this program honors French and Belgian composers from the second half of the 19th and 20th centuries. The alternation between famous works and hidden treasures of the repertoire invite you to take part in a dreamlike journey into the heart of the night, between dream and reality.

Interspersed by movements II and III of Maurice Ravel's Miroirs, the melodies of Jean Absil, Claude Debussy, Henri Duparc, Gabriel Fauré, Joseph Jongen and Guillaume Lekeu are divided into three chapters: the mystical Visions of twilight, the Chimeras linked to dreams and the desire to escape and, leading us inexorably towards our liberation, Death.

Among our favorite composers, we love to play W.A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven, F. Schubert, G. Mahler, R. Wagner, H. Wolf, G. Fauré, C. Debussy, H. Duparc, S. Rachmaninov and A. Berg.
