SONIA LARDY

Soprano lirico-leggero

Torn between opera, chamber music, and contemporary creation, Sonia Lardy is a French-Romanian soprano who trained in Vocal Performance and Lyric Art at the Royal Conservatories of Mons and Liège, as well as at the MM Academy (La Monnaie).

Since 2021, Sonia has performed several Mozart roles such as Papagena and Zweite Knabe (Die Zauberflöte), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), and Despina (Così fan tutte) as part of young artist programs including the Lyric Opera Studio of Weimar and the Vienna Opera Festival. In the French repertoire, she has also sung Nina (Chérubin, J. Massenet), as well as La Voix Humaine (F. Poulenc) and Rosaure (Gille et Gillotin, A. Thomas).

Alongside opera, Sonia has discovered a true passion for chamber music, particularly for the art of the mélodie. She has honed her skills through several programs, notably the Udo Reinemann International Masterclasses under the direction of Christianne Stotijn. Wishing to develop a project focused on female composers of the past and present, she co-founded the Collectif Medusa in 2023 with pianist Quentin Meurisse. Together, they created a first recital entitled in my room, featuring works by Amy Beach, Rebecca Clarke, Fanny Libert, and poet Emily Dickinson.

Her curiosity for new music led her to participate in the creation of Ô Silence by Xu Yi during the recital Silent Echoes of the XXI Century with Trio Eramäa in 2023. She also took part in the recording of the CD lueurs (Cypres, 2024) by Belgian composer Apolline Jesupret, in collaboration with Ensemble Hopper. More recently, Sonia worked with the women’s choir of the Brussels Conservatory and the ensemble Musiques Nouvelles on a recording of works by Fausto Romitelli, which will also be released by Cypres.
